I am an outdoorist, I live work and study around nature. I am drawn to open country where the world becomes clearer and begins to make more sense. Knowing the fear of the unknown is the greatest fear of all. Just having no regrets living for the moment. Having lived in 7 different states and spending time traveling to many more, I have discovered that I love meeting and interacting with people from all over.
Writing has been a constant in my life since I was a child. I was the 4-year old who wanted to be a writer, which then turned into my undergraduate degree at Saint Michael’s College in Vermont for Journalism and Mass Communication with a Minor in Environmental Photography followed by Master of Science in Environmental Studies with a Writing & Communication Focus at Green Mountain College.
After growing up in both suburban Massachusetts and New Jersey, I fled to the mountains of Vermont. After 10 years in Vermont, I decided that change was necessary in order to continue growing personally and I picked up and moved to Colorado, and then just over a year later to Utah, where I am today.
Through the power of words and images, I convey my deep love and respect for the environment, as well as, communicate the importance and fragile nature of natural world. My desire to experience as many outdoor recreational opportunities as possible, brought me to Vermont and later Colorado and Utah, my Environmental Communication Studies have given me the tools to share my passion with others.
My passion lies within connecting the outdoor industry and recreation to the environment. One cannot exist without the other. I have been passionately working in the outdoor industry for the last 10+ years and my purpose within this program has been to figure out how to link the two. I love to recreate outside, ski, mountain bike, hike, camp BUT those can’t exist without a protected environment, it we destroy where we love to play where there will be no more places to play.
My love of the mountains and nature was ingrained at a young age, and has always been in the background of my learning. I am a lifelong learner, always trying to adapt to my new surroundings. I now travel with my dog Kit, who loves road trips and playing in nature just as much as I do.
