Mindful Movement

Slow down in order to observe more.

Mindful movement allows us to check in with our bodies and get moving in a way that can help us lower stress, release stagnant energy, and strengthen our mind-body connection. It’s a great way to practice self-care by incorporating both mental and physical well-being. Oftentimes, when we engage in mindful movement to help our body feel better, our mood is uplifted, too.

Mindful movement can be a great way to switch up your mindfulness practice if you want to try an alternative to seated meditation. It can also be an access point to mindful practice for people who don’t like to sit still. You can bring mindfulness to any workout or walk simply by being with your body as you move.

Mindful Running

Mindful running is a term that means a lot of things to a lot of different people, but it really comes down to being present. It’s purely about being mentally connected within your movement and not being distracted.

Mindful Hiking

Many people hike to reduce stress, but that can be hard when your inner monologue runs rampant. Cultivate your senses by becoming more conscious of your surroundings. Practice observing your thoughts, feelings, and impulses to build self-awareness.

Mindful Biking

Mindful biking is the ability to direct the mind to where you want it to go and to be present with what is happening now. It is deeper than simply being aware, but a form of meditation if you’re completely present.

Mindful Skiing

When you’re moving and breathing, you’re literally bringing in the new. And the body movement also gives the mind a place to rest in order to quiet the noise by giving the mind a place to rest—on the movement. It requires a presence that helps shift perspective.

Yoga

Mindful movement in yoga is anything but hard to understand. Put simply, it refers to engaging in different poses while placing all of your attention (or as much as you can) on the movements of your body as well as your breathing.
